Dear Mr. Premier,

I am writing to you to address my grave concern that you are no longer fit to lead the great province of Ontario, and I am not alone. As per the June 11, 2026 Angus Reid poll, your approval rating plummeted to 21%; lower than any other sitting Provincial Premier, and even lower than President Trump’s. According to Abacus Data, 70% of Ontarians feel it’s time for change, moving away from the PC government; and that was before the devastation and poor air quality caused by the ongoing wildfires in Northern Ontario. You’ve lost the trust of Ontarians, including the working-class conservatives who have blindly voted PC for years.

Ontario residents are feeling the impacts of the chronic under-funding of public services that provincial governments are responsible for (i.e. wildfire preparedness and response, public healthcare, education, infrastructure and social programs), while pushing through policies the public isn’t asking for. Doing so without public consultation and the due process required to pass legislation; often during midnight sessions which we are now learning came at the taxpayer’s expense, literally and figuratively. This is undemocratic.

Below are just a few examples of unmandated projects your government has prioritized while our province is on fire, our public healthcare system crumbles, our children’s education suffers, and the vulnerable are left behind after losing the support of the social programs designed to provide them assistance. I’m focusing on a few key priorities that have received a lot of public scrutiny, so this is not a comprehensive list, or we’d be here all summer.

– The Greenbelt Scandal: The RCMP criminal investigation has been underway for over 1,000 days without any charges or updates to the public. Puzzling.

– The Ontario Science Centre: The old facility could have been renovated/repaired, as indicated by the 2024 engineering report.

– Ontario Place demolished: Over 850 trees removed from the property in the cover of the night. What was once public park land for Ontario residents to enjoy, now sits barren.

– Therme Spa scandal: Awarding a 95-year contract to a European company that misrepresented its stature. Did we not learn our lesson from selling off Hwy 407?

– The 401 tunnel: Buying back Hwy 407, and reducing the tolls so it’s a more viable option for GTA drivers would be a more sensible option with immediate results… but that won’t enrich your developer friends, will it? Let me be crystal clear, speaking for the general public: NO ONE WANTS OUR TAX DOLLARS FUNDING A TUNNEL THROUGH THE GTA. Especially when there is public transportation and infrastructure needed across our province: Twinning Hwy 17 between Arnprior and Renfrew (a young man sadly lost his life last week along that stretch of highway), Hwy 69’s expansion between Parry Sound and Sudbury, and ensuring the roads in Northern Ontario are safe for the Ring of Fire project, to name a few.

– Hwy 413: A highway where the damage to the ecosystems far outweighs the benefits a new GTA highway will bring to a fraction of the population.

– Billy Bishop Airport expansion: Partnering, once again, with a foreign investor to push through YTZ’s expansion which Torontonians have clearly opposed, and will devastate the lakeshore ecosystem and recreation areas, and further compromise the air quality in downtown Toronto. Given the recent air quality levels from current wildfires, and you plan to amplify that by literally adding jet fuel to the fire. That is sinister. Can you not see the devastating impacts of your decisions?

– The Gravy Plane: No comment is even necessary on this point. You’re still flying around in it at the taxpayers’ expense.

– Muskoka development: Another project that we the people do not want our tax dollars supporting, that an American company will profit from, for the benefit of the wealthy, at the expense of the general public and the fragile Muskoka lakes ecosystem.

– Alberta to Ontario pipeline: The focus of feasibility studies in the current climate crisis we’re in should be on renewable energy! Yet again, your developer friends and big oil will cash in on this proposed project at the expense of Ontarians.

There is a clear pattern: Your policies favour wealthy developers over the people. Ontario residents are not asking for the above initiatives, and we do not support our tax dollars funding projects that only serve to benefit the private companies awarded the contracts. In fact, a lot of your short-sighted, populist policies have reduced the provincial revenue stream which could have funded much-needed public services (i.e. cancelling license plate renewal fees, allowing alcohol in grocery and convenience stores, removing tolls on the provincially-owned stretch of the 407). Yet, every week there seems to be a new press conference announcing a new proposal that benefits the private sector, while public sector programs continue to be under-funded to their breaking point. Most of us understand that this is the conservative method of operation: Break it, so that the only viable solution appears (to some) to be privatization. It appears you’re exposing the wizard behind the curtain with your overt biases for the (often American or foreign) private sector, because even life-long conservatives are starting to understand that their vote has been taken advantage of.

A true democracy requires the people’s trust in our elected officials, and accountability when elected officials commit wrongdoing. You, sir, have lost Ontario’s trust. We’ve also lost trust in the MPPs who blindly support your corrupt policies against their constituents’ feedback, ignoring our voices; and we’ve lost trust in the institutions that are supposed to be investigating your actions and holding you accountable.

Premier Ford: The only steps you, and the MPPs that represent the PC party can take, at this point, to regain our trust in the current provincial government is to use the tools that are available within our democratic process to remove you from your position. Either you can resign, or your MPPs can collectively call for a non-confidence vote. Our beautiful province, and the beautiful people within it, cannot afford to wait another three to four years before you call our next election. I’m concerned we won’t recognize the province we once loved if you continue to abuse your power and ignore the voices of the people.

Therefore, while you’re sitting on your dock this summer (or inside your air-conditioned cottage if air quality is interfering with your dock time), I hope you take some time to reflect on how you can truly improve the lives of every Ontarian. The answer will not lie in allowing jets to fly into Billy Bishop Airport, it will not lie in destroying ecosystems so that your wealthy friends can increase their wealth, it won’t lie in controlling school boards, students’ attendance and teachers’ classroom supplies, it won’t lie in modifying laws via midnight sittings to evade accountability, it won’t lie in underfunding needed climate change preparedness to the point that communities have burned to the ground and the rest of us are breathing toxic air, and it won’t lie in underfunding our healthcare to the point where hospitals cannot properly resource themselves. The answer lies in whether our current Premier has been making decisions in the best interest of ALL Ontarians.
